She has recently experienced health issues, receiving a diagnosis of intestinal cancer in 2016 and undergoing a kidney transplant in 2017.

She passed away on May 24, 2023 after a long illness. She was known as the Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll and had many soul classics and pop hits like The Best and What’s Love Got to Do With It. She won eight Grammy Awards and was inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame twice. She was an inspiration to many artists and fans around the world. She will be greatly missed.
